Clothing and Equipment

Clothing from modern camping stores is really great if not a little expensive at times. They are light, warm and dry quickly. Although the weather is mild for many months of the year, it is important to remember  each day is a full day’s walk so you must be prepared to be outside for 6 – 8 hours.

  • runners (worn in but good condition)
  • socks and undies
  • compression pants (my preference . Either long or short is okay)
  • 1 pair of long pants to wear on last day’s walk along the railway line.
  • bumbag (handy for small  immediate items)
  • wide brimmed hat
  • long sleeve shirt, t-shirts
  • open toed sandals or thongs (great for après camino)
  • spray jacket
  • 1 polar fleece or warm woolen jumper
  • something to sleep in (I use my thermals)
  • casual dinner attire

  • duffel bag for the trailer (keep it to one item only)
  • small day pack for hiking
  • towel (for school camp at Cape Bridgewater)
  • toiletries
  • insect repellant
  • earplugs (the most underrated piece of camping equipment)
  • minor medical items. (plenty of band aids, sun screen, antiseptic spray, lip balm, burn and bite gel, paw paw cream, panadol etc. )
  • water bottles for 3 litres (camel back with tube is highly recommended)
  • walking poles (I strongly recommend them)
  • small camera
